EMIC BECOMES CONTINUENT, OBTAINS ADDITIONAL FUNDING. Emic, an open source high availability middleware company, changes its name to Continuent and obtains $5.75 million US in a Series B funding round from Trident Capital, Nordic Venture Partners and Ledstiernan.

OPENLOGIC NAMES NEW CEO, OBTAINS ADDITIONAL FUNDING. OpenLogic, an open source software company, names Steven Grandchamp as their new CEO, and announces the addition of UV Partners to their Series A investment round.

CENTERIS OBTAINS $5 MILLION US FUNDING ROUND, RELEASES BETA. Centeris, a Linux management software company, obtains $5 million US in its Series A investment round from Ignition Partners, and releases a beta version of its new software.

OPEN SOURCE COMPLIANCE INSURANCE LAUNCHES. Open Source Risk Management (OSRM), Lloyd’s underwriter Kiln, and Lloyd’s broker Miller launch the first-ever open source compliance insurance, covering up to $10 million US in direct losses from non-compliance of open source licenses.

APACHE WEB SERVER REACHES 50 MILLION SERVERS. Netcraft, an Internet services company, announces in its October 2005 Web Server Survey that Apache Web Server has passed the 50 million server mark.
